Cargo and passenger transport increasing 14.6% and 22.2%, respectively.

The transport sector continued to be one of the key drivers
of economic growth in 2025, recording year-on-year increases of 14.6% in cargo
transport and 22.2% in passenger transport, according to the National
Statistics Office (NSO).

Freight transport volume reached nearly 3 billion tons, with
strong growth across all modes of transport. Road transport rose 14.1% year on
year; inland waterways, 12.8%; maritime transport, 16.6%; rail
transport, 7.1%; and aviation, 4.4%.

Meanwhile, the total number of passengers transported was
estimated at more than 6.18 billion. Road transport dominated, with passenger turnover reaching 312 billion persons-km, a 13.6% increase from the previous
year. Notably, railway transport posted a strong recovery, surging 100% year on
year to 39.9 million passenger trips.
