U.S. Rep. Kat Cammack was at the forefront of induction ceremonies for the Florida Law Enforcement Officers Hall of Fame Saturday.

The North Florida Representative for CD 3 presented American flags to the inductees and families of outstanding officers in Florida. The flag presentation was part of the induction for Larry Corgin, Michael “Mick” McHale, the late O.L. Raulerson, the late Harrel Reid and Daniel Slaughter.

“Law enforcement is not simply a profession. It is a calling,” said Cammack. “It is a commitment to run toward danger when others run away. It is a willingness to miss birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, and family dinners. And it is a promise made every day to complete strangers that no matter what happens, someone will answer the call.”

Cammack was joined by Florida Department of Law Enforcement  Commissioner Mark Glass during the ceremony in Tallahassee.

The inductees had distinguished service in Florida law enforcement including:

Corbin, the retired Assistant Chief in the South Miami Police Department who served for nearly 40 years and was a volunteer for New York City to support police there in the days immediately following the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2026.

McHale is a retired Seargent with the Sarasota Police Department who serves as the President of the National Association of Police organizations.

Raulerson was the only person to be elected to two different counties as sheriff in Florida. He held the top law slot for Highlands and Okeechobee counties in a career that spanned four decades.

Reid was Sheriff of Hamilton County for nine consecutive terms which was the longest serving sheriff in state history in the 36 years he held the office.

Slaughter is the retired Chief of the Clearwater Police Department where he had a 30-year career and helped develop the Real-Time Operations Center which is noted as a model for mental health response in law enforcement.

The Florida Law Enforcement Officer’s Hall of Fame was founded by the state Legislature in 2014 to honor police and deputies who serve the state. Officers are nominated for induction by the Florida Sheriff’s Association, Florida Police Chiefs Association, Florida Police Benevolent Association, Fraternal Order of Police and the State Law Enforcement Chiefs Association.

The Governor and Cabinet vote to approve nominees.
