U.S. Sen. Ashley Moody is backing six bills aimed at supporting law enforcement.

Moody said she’s supporting the bills coming out of the Senate Judiciary Committee addressing several levels of support for first responders. One bill would expand mental health support for law enforcement officers, another strengthens leadership training, a separate bill would expedite benefits for injured officers and another among those measures would advance cold case investigations along with other improvements.

“Our law enforcement officers step up every day to protect our communities, and we must have their backs,” Moody said in a news release.

“I’m proud to vote to advance these measures out of the Senate Judiciary Committee during National Police Week (May 10 to May 16) to strengthen officer safety, expand mental health resources, support families of fallen officers, and provide law enforcement with additional tools to keep Americans safe. Florida will always stand with the brave men and women who wear the badge.”

The bills Moody is supporting that came out of the Senate Judiciary Committee over the past week include:

— Lt. Osvaldo Albarati Stopping Prison Contraband Act to increase safety in federal prisons and the flow of drugs and other contraband.

— Fighting Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Act of 2025 would be an initiative for the U.S. Department of Justice to launch programs to treat first responders who are affected by Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and other issues related to stress.

— Promoting Police Leadership Act that would improve training for commanders in law enforcement agencies.

— Officer John Barnes and Chief Michael Ansbro Public Safety Officers’ Benefit Program Expansion Act of 2026, which would speed up benefits for public safety officers and extend those benefits.

— Carla Walker Act that would stipulate federal grants for forensic DNA analysis to help address cold cases.

— Tribal Warrant Fairness Act would allow tribal law enforcement to get assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service in addressing missing children cases and tracking down violent criminals.
