France and Germany have often been referred to as the driving force of the EU. While their visions of Europe do diverge they’ve sought common ground. Now, as the EU faces formidable challenges amidst Russian aggression, US unpredictability, and internal fragmentation, the EU and the Franco-German alliance are being tested like never before.
