EU eases ban on internal combustion cars

The European Union is considering revising a 2023 law that would have ended sales of new combustion-engine cars by 2035, proposing instead a 90% cut in CO₂ emissions rather than a complete phaseout. This would allow limited production of petrol or hybrid vehicles to continue. Germany is backing the move, urging Brussels to ease the deadline over concerns about jobs and industrial competitiveness, as France 24 correspondent Nicholas Holdsworth reports from Berlin
