Hong Kong authorities have received more than 100 permit applications on the first day from mainland Chinese car owners seeking to drive directly into the city’s urban areas after bookings opened under a much-awaited cross-border entry scheme.
The applications came from 1,700 winners of a November 23 ballot conducted by the Guangdong authorities, which drew 2,388 registrations, the Transport Department said on Wednesday.
