Border Patrol agents are moving into big U.S. cities under Trump’s immigration crackdown, raising legal and human rights concerns.

Border agents are now being sent into major U.S. cities as part of former President Donald Trump’s new immigration crackdown.
According to The Guardian, Border Patrol agents, who usually work near the U.S.–Mexico border, are now operating in cities like Chicago, Los Angeles, and Washington D.C.

This move is part of a wider plan to find and deport undocumented immigrants across the country. The government says it is using laws that allow agents to work within 100 miles of any U.S. border or coastline — an area that includes many large cities.

However, civil rights groups are worried. Videos online show agents entering homes and making arrests without clear warrants. Legal experts say this could violate the Fourth Amendment, which protects against unreasonable searches.

Many communities are afraid. People fear going to work or school, and some are avoiding public places.
Human rights advocates argue that these operations will create fear and distrust between immigrants and local police.

The Biden administration had limited such operations, but Trump’s new approach aims to expand deportations nationwide. Supporters say it will strengthen national security, while critics warn it could lead to abuse of power.

As this policy continues, lawyers and activists plan to challenge the legality of these city raids in court.
