Attorney General James Uthmeier continues to press his financial advantage over Democratic challenger Jose Javier Rodriguez ahead of their November election — and the latest weekly report only widens an already lopsided gap.

In the week ending June 19, the Republican appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis reported raising $1.009 million to his Friends of James Uthmeier political committee and an additional $5,054 to his campaign account.

A $900,000 check from the Republican Party of Florida comprised the majority of the haul — a sign the party establishment is lining up early behind the appointed incumbent. Other donors of note include The Southern Group and political consultant Alex Bruesewitz.

All told, Uthmeier has more than $8 million in his political committee and nearly $1.1 million in his campaign account, a war chest north of $9 million for a candidate who has never faced statewide voters.

Uthmeier, DeSantis’ former Chief of Staff, was sworn in as the state’s 39th Attorney General in February 2025 after Ashley Moody was appointed to the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Marco Rubio. At 37, he became one of the youngest attorneys general in the country, and he is now seeking his first full term in his own right.

While Uthmeier continues to amass resources for the fall, his Democratic challenger is struggling comparatively.

Rodriguez brought in $13,231, his weakest number in any filing to date — though with the caveat that it’s the first weekly report of the 2026 cycle. He had roughly $215,000 on hand as of June 19, leaving him at better than a 40-to-1 cash disadvantage.
