The union representing Seminole County educators is backing newcomer Holton Mills along with incumbents Autumn Garick and Kristine Kraus for the Seminole County School Board.

The Seminole Education Association (SEA) announced its endorsements for the Aug. 18 election.

“School board members make decisions that directly impact classrooms, teachers, and students every day,” SEA President Thomas Bugos said.

“Holton Mills, Kristine Kraus, and Autumn Garick understand the challenges facing our schools and have demonstrated a commitment to putting students first. SEA members are proud to support candidates who will listen to educators and work collaboratively to strengthen public education in Seminole County.”

Kraus represents District 1, while Garick holds the District 5 seat.

The news release sent out by the SEA said it had been paid for and approved by Garick, Kraus and Mills, who all issued statements.

“I’m incredibly honored to have the support of the Seminole Education Association,” said Garick, a former literacy educator. “As someone whose own life was changed by great teachers, I know firsthand the difference educators make every day.”
