City leaders around Broward County endorse Scott Singer’s bid to unseat Jared Moskowitz

Congressional candidate Scott Singer just announced a round of new endorsements in his bid to unseat U.S. Rep. Jared Moskowitz.

The Boca Raton Mayor, the most recent Republican filed to challenge the Parkland Democrat, announced other city leaders in the region are lining up behind his campaign in Florida’s 23rd Congressional District.

Those include Deerfield Beach Mayor Todd Drosky and City Commissioner Michael Hudak, Highland Beach Mayor Natasha Moore, Weston Mayor Peggy Brown, Delray Beach Mayor Tom Carney, Hillsboro Beach Commissioner Jane Reiser and former Hillsboro Beach Mayor Deb Tarrant.

“Scott Singer is a principled mayoral colleague that I’ve admired from nearby Deerfield Beach,” Drosky said. “He is a tax cutter and fiscal conservative who is now running for Congress in FL-23. It is my belief that he will make an outstanding congressman when elected. I enthusiastically offer my complete endorsement of Scott’s campaign for Congress.”

Other Mayors also praised Singer.

“I’m supporting Scott Singer’s candidacy for Congress because I’ve witnessed what his leadership has done to improve his local community,” Moore said. “He has been a strong advocate for Boca Raton’s citizens over his tenure in office. He has my full support. I wish him the best of luck, and I look forward to working with him in his future capacity to better all our local communities.”

Brown currently serves as President of the Florida League of Mayors.

“Scott Singer is a principled mayoral colleague. As Mayor of Boca Raton, he governed with fiscal discipline,” she said. “I know that when he is elected he will help restore accountability and fiscal sanity in Washington, and always put South Florida and all American families first.”

Singer served three terms as Mayor of Boca Raton after first being elected to the City Council in 2014. He did not run for re-election this year, and City Council member Andy Thomson last week won the race to succeed Singer by a razor-thin margin.

But Singer’s campaign notes he has never lost an election in the city. Local officials credited his record of results for Boca.

“Scott Singer is a principled mayor who has delivered real results for Boca Raton throughout his mayoral tenure,” Tarrant said. “He understands that collaboration at all levels of government is required to get things done for his constituents. I’m certain he will bring his commonsense principles and drive with him to Congress to serve as an effective representative for the people of Florida’s 23rd District.”

Hudak agreed.

“As a commissioner in Deerfield Beach, I’ve seen how our neighbor, Scott Singer, delivered low taxes and strong public safety for his own city of Boca Raton,” he said. “I’ve always admired Scott for putting his community’s families first. I wish him the best in this next endeavor running for Congress, and I’m proud to add my name as an endorser of his campaign.”

Reiser also touted Singer’s fiscal record.

“I’m supporting Scott Singer’s candidacy for Congress because I’ve witnessed what his leadership has done to improve his local community,” she said. “He has been a strong advocate for Boca Raton’s citizens over his tenure in office. He has my full support. I wish him the best of luck, and I look forward to working with him in his future capacity to better all our local communities.”
